Summer’s Coming!

by Mollie

The weather has been perfectly pleasant lately and starting to feel summery… I do love this time of year in California. How can we tell that summer is right around the corner?

The garden is in full swing!  Corn, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, various herbs, and a couple mystery seedlings that came up on their own.  We are super excited to make our completely homegrown, made from scratch organic salsa this year! Here is what one can do to know about how to choose a landscaper who setups the backyard as per your wishes.

Natalie wears her swimsuit around the house and yard just because (“choose your battles” and all that).  We have yet to go to the pool or even play in the sprinkler this year, but don’t tell her!

Finding “roly-poly” bugs or pill bugs is a big thing for Natalie and her friends right now.  She is studying one in the photo below.  When she finds one she comes running to tell me excitedly, and wants me to put it in a jar and make a little home for it.  Don’t ask her to touch it though– guess she’s not much of a creepy crawlies person.

so cute! rollie pollie bugs are pretty exciting! It was 90 and breezy here today, so I know what you mean about nice weather…it just makes your whole day feel wonderful!

It’s nice to hear that you’re getting some nice weather. We’ve had a few days of sunshine again, but it’s still pretty chilly, will be in the 40s again tonight. Sure love the pictures. Natalie examining the pill bug is so cute. Your garden looks great!

Your garden looks great!!! I can’t wait to have ours in. We do things a little later here in Nova Scotia. 🙂
Eva still wears her bathing suit around the house. Even though it isn’t warm enough outside here to wear it, she still fantasizes about swimming at the beach sometime soon. Love Natalie’s concentration on the bug! Cute. When I was little “the bug” was the June bug. I can’t believe I used to hold them and their sticky legs!

yay for summer! it’s sooo nice to be able to wear sandals again:) also, i just love how i get a preview of what cambria’s hair will look like in 10 months, whenever i see natalie pictures.. they are so hair twins:) the fresh veggies sound amazing! this spring’s project was grass in the backyard, but maybe we’ll have to do a garden next year..

Hillary: we made a custom watermark using a font from http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/, which we applied manually in the GIMP image editor. We’re looking in to using Lightroom to apply it automatically for us, but at this point the manual watermarking is really pretty simple.

Oh, Natalie, come over to my pool and get your suit wet!

Fancy blog and pictures! I like it! Natalie’s hair is reminding me of Jamie’s when she was younger, so cute.
